May 2010 Monthly Gaming Analysis

The results shown below are of course based on the combined data from the Daily Game Log which should provide a clear indication of a game's usage frequency. Bear in mind that even if a game is played twice or more during a particular day, it would still register as 1 in the Day Count column below. In a sense, "merits" are given based on how often a particular game can make me play it again throughout the entire period of the month on a daily basis. A game that makes a gamer play it over and over again or at least spend a lot of time with it... Isn't that what we mostly want from a great game? I don't think it's really fair to count all the way down to the number of hours played since some games only require a short amount of time to properly serve their purposes.

OVERALL BREAKDOWN:

Total Games Played: 71

Oh Culdcept Saga, why do you haunt my life like so? You have taken the number one most played spot again with higher number of repetition beyond everything else that I played in May 2010 and this is after two years and three months after you first arrived in my life. You are such a brilliant game that at this point I know I will never get bored of. That is not something that is easy to say about any other video games in my Game Library. With or without human partners to play with, you keep surprisingly me with new ways to play.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force's sudden ascend to the top last month had a lot to do with Culdcept Saga. There was a downer period where I was just so frustrated over the lack of fun people to Saga with that I went into a state of self-isolation. Self-pity is not something that I like to revisit so after realizing that I was unsuccessfully trying to replace an incredible experience with something that is rather average, I stopped Tag Force soon after.

In the third spot, ESPGaluda II Black Label, the complex shoot-'em-up that I do need to play more of on a daily basis. I am definitely getting better at the game during this month's sessions. With Deathsmiles finally arriving later this month, I feel so happy that I am able to play these great Cave shooters on a domestic home console. I got into a conversation about Deathsmiles with a friend on X-Box Live and it was funny that the person thought that I was excited about the game because of the whole "gothic lolita" theme and that I was just jumping on the bandwagon of the recent excitement generated by the game's domestic release announcement. Dude, I have been wanting to experience this game ever since it hit the arcades in Japan a long time ago.

Best New Game of the Month:
Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype (PlayStation 3)

Unexpectedly Forgotten New Game of the Month:
3D Dot Game Heroes (PlayStation 3)

I Missed You I Want You Game of the Month:
Red Dead Redemption (X-Box 360)

Well, 3D Dot Game Heroes is not a surprise if you think this game brings back old good memories from clasic games.

Not sure if we are both on the same page here but the "Unexpectedly Forgotten" category means that I was so excited to play the game but then I abandoned it rather hastily ^_^ Yes, is a fun copycat but I guess I had too much of the real thing already. I do need to get back to it soon though because it was rather entertaining.

Yeah it happened to me before. I understand now, sorry. Sometimes its hype´s fault.
