The Sims 4: Rehashed Emotions

The marketing people for Electronic Arts' upcoming (and unnecessary) The Sims 4 apparently have never played any of the past Sims games because if they did they would not have claimed that this new game will feature new emotions when these emotions are present in the previous Sims games. Once could argue that the Sims will be more emotive in the upcoming game but I have seen these facial and body expressions shown in this promo trailer in the previous game before:

I think that The Sims 3 is the pinnacle of the series and EA should have focused on perfecting that game instead of releasing this new one. Graphically, The Sims 4 looks almost like The Sims 3. It's not like they can't make more money from number 3. They can keep releasing more new features for that game. Because you know that with this 4th one, it's bare bones compared to you can do with 3. People need to be smarter and not touch The Sims 4 for a long time to come - I plan to only get it when it's bundled with all of its expansions at $19.99 or less like 5 years after release. Let's teach EA a lesson, shall we?

Because they can't be flirty in past Sims games! They must really think that we are that dumb.

July 2014 Gaming Analysis

The results shown below are of course based on the combined data from the Daily Game Log which should provide a clear indication of a game's usage frequency. Bear in mind that even if a game is played twice or more during a particular day, it would still register as 1 in the Day Count column below. In a sense, "merits" are given based on how often a particular game can make me play it again throughout the entire period of the  month on a daily basis. A game that makes a gamer play it over and over again or at least spend a lot of time with it... Isn't that what we mostly want from a great game? I don't think it's really fair to count all the way down to the number of hours played since some games only require a short amount of time to properly serve their purposes.

PS4 Share Button: The Delay Factor

It has always been easy to take screenshots of games on the Personal Computer - the Prt Scr is our best friend - but it used to be difficult for the consoles. This is why I love the idea behind the Share button on the PlayStation 4 controller. With it, I was able to screenshot great moments such as these:

Bros for life.

Bro, I want your life.

But the problem is, unless you are very lucky or that the image you wanted to capture happens to stay on the screen for a good amount of time, I have found myself with the following screenshots:

Hey, that is definitely not the screenshot that I wanted to take...

Consecutive attempts will result in that screenshot icon on the top right being captured.

The problem with the screenshot function of the Share button is, even when set to a single press to capture the screenshots, there is a delay between pressing the button and when the snap happens. So unless you are psychic or the scene is still, it is near impossible to capture something at the heat of the moment, which is really unfortunate. I definitely take a lot more unintentional screenshots than the ones I was aiming for and deleting them off the PS4 is a chore. One may argue that it's probably better to just video capture everything but I am more interested in screenshots and I do the same while playing my PC games. There must be something that Sony can do about this.
