The Steam Awards 2023 Votes

Here are my votes for this year's Steam Awards. Many of my nominees didn't make it to the list of finalists but that is always to be expected. I didn't nominate for No Man's Sky this year for the "Labor of Love" award - and apparently many agreed because it didn't make it to the top of the list - because even though the updates keep on coming, Hello Games has been too focused on the multiplayer element of the game, which I am not a big fan of.

A Gamer Christmas

The Christmas season is a time for celebration for many. It's that special time of the year, they may say, when people are meant to be merry, and joy is to be felt all around the world. Right. For me, it's always the harder part of the year because of the holiday's religious roots. Those who ended up finding plenty of joy in Christmas probably got introduced to the secular version of it. You know, the version involving a trip to the mall to tell Santa Claus what you wanted for Christmas or seeing all those presents under the Christmas tree. That kind of stuff. I didn't grow up surrounded by those "fun" things. Christmas was serious. It was the real thing. You know, baby Jesus and all. I remember getting some Christmas gifts, but it was less sleigh and more pray. As a young child who questioned religion even back then, it never did sit well with me. It's like, why can't we have any bit of fun without god being involved in it. Later on, I remember hoping that god was okay with me playing my games solo because I discovered it naturally. I also went through that period of time asking god to exorcise the gay out of me and turn me "normal". Religion is great, isn't it?

This Snoopy plushy is the first gift I received during my first secular Christmas.

Gaming Year in Review 2023

It's been quite here; I am aware of that. You know that I am still gaming like crazy if you keep track of my Twitch channel, but outside of that, life has been somewhat busy, and I am dealing with some personal issues as well. That's life for you. One day you realize you are here, then you suffer, then you disappear. Sorry, things are somewhat frustrating right now but I'm doing my best. I have been livestreaming my official recaps for my gaming activities across platforms this year. I want to post those videos here. This article will be updated with more videos as if there are more to add. 2023 has been a busy year personally, especially since it involved a very exhausting move for me back in June. I just want things to settle down so I can enjoy my life a little more. Maybe in 2024. Hope your 2023 has been great and that it will be better next year.

Nintendo's Best amiibo Is Its Craziest

The Nintendo amiibos: they are mini, and they can be cute. Ever since the blunder of the initial lineup, they have also been getting better construction wise and thus their increased desirability with each release. I guess every now and then the amiibo design team gets a little nuts and would release amiibos of remarkable sizes like some from the Monster Hunter series and "The Guardian" from Breath of the Wild - I still regret not picking up the latter at its regular retail price when I had the chance to. I have never seen those in person however so imagine my shock when I saw this huge freaking thing at a retail store. Well, to see a new amiibo not selling out immediately at retail in itself some kind of galactic miracle so I picked it up immediately.

Its so huge that they had to tie him up to the box like a common criminal.

The Steam Awards 2023 Nominations

I know that it has been rather quiet here on this website. it's just that things have been a little bit busy in life. I haven't stopped my gaming livestreams however since it is a much easier thing to do compared to writing. But hey, here's something new. It's that time of the year again when there is an uptake in turkey consumption - I don't know why, they are so dry - and Steam gamers get to splurge on game purchases while nominating titles for The Steam Awards! Here are my selections. Please drop your nomination links in the comments section, I would love to see them!

Best Physical Copy on Nintendo Switch

After Nintendo betrayed me on the Wii U - back then, I bought a 2TB external hard drive for the system to support their digital distribution of games, only for the system to be abandoned quickly with the release of the Nintendo Switch - I don't trust their online strategies anymore. Because of this, despite the fact that space is a rare and precious commodity these days in my Game Room, I always make sure I get the physical copies of Switch games I want whenever it's available. Recently, I ordered a copy of Shadowverse: Champions Battle by Cygames and I was shocked by what I saw inside of the case.

On top of the back-cover instructions, this game comes with an actual game manual!

PC Games: Zombie Edition

My physical personal computer games, you know, those that usually came packaged in gigantic boxes, have not been properly stored in my Game Room for the past two places that I have lived in. All this time, they have been thoroughly displaced: at one time, they hid in an office closet amongst other non-gaming supplies for 2 years and at another, they were all boxed up for 3 long years. I knew that my latest Game Room Ver. 5.0 is smaller than the previous, but I surprised myself that I am actually capable of properly storing these PC games in here. It took some creativity in space management, and of course, some of the larger gaming items still cannot make it in here - they will eventually find a permanent place somewhere in the walk-in closet of my bedroom, but I am so happy that these forgotten games can finally exist again in my daily gaming life in prominent fashion.

All of my physical PC games (well, almost all) in one place and out in the open.

The Deck Is Not a Reason to Be a Dick

The Steam Deck is great. Let's get that out of the way. Personally, it's a cool portable Personal Computer that I can carry with me when I am going to be away from my home for a while. The fact that it is basically a small form PC outside of its gaming capabilities makes it such a useful tool for everyone. What the Deck shouldn't be, however, is a litmus test for every single game being released on Steam. The problem is, like all good things in life, there are plenty of people out there apparently who is now primarily gaming on the Steam Deck and thus, bringing some delusions and malcontent into the celebration. The Deck is not supposed to be the ultimate gaming rig. It can act as a gateway, especially for console owners or Switch fanatics, to dabble into PC gaming. It's certainly a point of envy for Sony who recently announced their PlayStation Portal streaming tablet - yucks - when you can already do that with Steam Remote Play on any old tablet and controller. Steam even has a certification process on the playability of a game on the Deck with a classification system. The fact that the device is indeed a PC, it still doesn't stop people from trying and experimenting on games that are not officially supported on the Deck, which is fine. It becomes a problem when the said individuals then take their frustrations onto the Steam store, writing horrible reviews for games just because they are not playable on the Deck, even though these games are not verified to be played on the system to begin with.

An example of a misguided review on a game that,
on this date of publication, is not Steam Deck verified.

Review: Bit.Trip Rerunner

Bit.Trip Rerunner (2023)
Developer: Choice Provisions, Gamecraft Studios
Platform: Personal Computer
Induction Date: 09/25/2023

Bit.Trip Rerunner is an odd remaster. It's sort of a revamped version of Bit.Trip. Runner with completely recreated levels plus the music from the entirety of the Bit.Trip universe presented with their own playable stages in the new visual style and presentation. You would think that it would make sense for the developer to just improve the entirety of the series into this new collection since they all come in a variety of play mechanics but seemingly, the developer only want us to experience the musical journey in the vein of the Runner gameplay style: that is, an auto runner where the correct actions that are needed to be taken to complete a level are synchronized to the rhythm of the musical track.

Take me to the finish line!

Just Like Life Itself, Gaming Feels Infinite

Playing video games has never been a cheap hobby. As with everything else these days, gaming is getting more expensive by the day and the majority of the community's compliance in accepting wholly unnecessary norms like light-speed console cycles, huge bump in price for a single game, and other money-hungry post-release content access schemes signaled to the game developers and publishers that they can get away with everything. Of course, those who approach this hobby with some degree of intelligence don't have to suffer with everyone else. I have written in the past that for me, personally, I consider $39.99 as the sweet spot for a price of a single game. I came to this conclusion in 2011: that was a lifetime ago. This means that a lot of indie games are easy for me to justify getting because they are usually way cheaper than that even to this day. Still, with the number of games I have in my library, I still tend to wait for some kind of discount, unless of course, I truly want to play a game that bad.

Infinite physical gaming means having infinite space. Is that even possible?

All the Lies: A PP Tale

Lies of P, the new action game from Neowiz, does have a really strange title. Well, the whole game is uh, crazy? It's the delirious retelling of the Pinocchio fairy tale? I guess we will see if it makes any sense at all when I finally get to play this game soon. What's more interesting though is the representation of P's face. It looks like recently, the developer has updated P to look more masculine. When I first heard about this game and looked at the close-up of P on the cover art, I really thought P was a lady. I didn't even know that P stood for Pinocchio at that time, I just thought those crazy non-native English speakers were just trying to find intriguing ways to title another one of their games. I know we are all used to the Final Fantasy series by now because it's so popular, but you know that title doesn't make any bit of sense in relation to any of those games.

Notice the difference? The original look on the right and the "reworked" face on the left.

Patience and Radiant Silvergun

I can't believe it. Radiant Silvergun is actually making its way to Steam, courtesy of Live Wire. Which is pretty funny, I suppose, since Treasure brought Ikaruga to the platform but they are just so unwilling to put in the work to publish Radiant Silvergun by themselves. This could mean that ESPgaluda II may also arrive on Steam in the near future since Live Wire released that game alongside other Cave shmups on the Nintendo Switch.

Hopefully, "coming soon" means in the upcoming weeks?

Would You Wake Up to This?

I am still working on completing my Game Room Ver. 5.0 and this is on top of getting the whole house ready, mind you. The new Game Room is smaller, thus similar to what I had to do with the previous 2 versions, a bunch of my gaming stuff are being stored elsewhere. All of my Hatsune Miku figurines have found themselves being moved to the master bedroom, right next to the bed.

Yes, those are the Skylanders cheering them on from the corner of the room.

Steam Has Turned Into a Church

There are a lot of meme and copypasta user reviews on Steam. As I have mentioned previously, the Steam review section is probably the worst part of the service, compared to the dignity and professionalism accomplished on Epic Games. A majority of these reviews, though stupid, are mostly there to garner immediate attention from others in an attempt to achieve some kind of 5-second Internet fame or accumulate Steam Points from the gullible. Sometimes, though, you find something more sinister. Like the one below:

Now imagine someone quoting from other "holy books" and spamming them as game reviews.

New Home, New Game Room

I know, it has been a while. You could probably guess what happened during the majority of my absence last month - Yes, I was moving to my new home. As stated previously, it was a long, arduous process. I got to my new home around the middle of the month. The delivery of my belongings was delayed by a week or so. I wanted to write and post some updates here back then, but I also discovered that the website was heavily attacked by some bot. I contacted Google multiple times, but I didn't get any assistance, so I turned off public access to the site. The bot seemed to calm down now so I thought I would sneak in a post and monitor the situation. So yes, I survived the move, though I am still physically and emotionally exhausted, and I have been working on Game Room Ver. 5.0 slowly but surely as soon as I got my greedy little hands on my gaming stuff again.

I have done quite a bit but it's nowhere close to being done.

Free Games with Prime Obsessed with SNK

If you are a gamer who is a current Amazon Prime member, I am sure you must have noticed that Amazon has been releasing a lot of SNK games for free through their Prime Gaming program. For those who are not familiar with this, basically, you get to claim a number of free games every month that you get to keep in perpetuity even if you decided to cancel your Amazon Prime membership at a later time - unlike rental programs like PSN Plus and the likes. These SNK games I mentioned earlier are titles from the golden era of the arcades and though you can get most of them in some form or another out there in the gaming marketplace, it's nice to see that Prime Gaming is seemingly focused in trying to get all of these titles available through their digital distribution service, for free nonetheless for Amazon prime users.

The Amazon Prime membership is definitely worth it thanks to the addition of these SNK games.

Epic's Epic Rewards

Sure, the Point system offered on Steam is cute and fun. But what it's missing is real monetary value. Of course the Steamoroids will always find something wrong with any other digital distribution platform on the Personal Computer, but Epic Games is once again showing us that they can be a step more advanced than Valve's digital storefront. Today, they introduced the Epic Rewards program alongside their month-long Mega Sale a.k.a. we really, really want you to spend money event - and I have seen some truly incredible discounts!

I rather have cashback than the next cute emoji or profile background to be honest.

Perhaps It's Time to Let Them Go?

Packing up all of my physical games had me thinking. Is it still necessary for me to hold on to these things? Sure, they are worth quite a lot to me. I have played a majority of them and as the saying goes, you can't take it with you, and in this rapid digital age, physical game ownership just feels quite limp, quite vapid. I know it's probably the exhaustion talking - I dare you to pack around 3,000 games and smile at the end of the process - but I want to entertain the thought seriously for a minute. Do I lose anything if I let go of these games at this point in my life? Sure, the void can be felt with such a drastic measure, but I have a majority of my games digitally these days, thanks to the fully evolved Personal Computer gaming distribution. Let's just pretend that I am willing to make this change in my life as a gamer, will I miss my physical games? I mean, once they are shelved, it's not like I caress them every single day, and it's not like I actually play them often. I get a lot of digital games nowadays, so it's not like I am ever going to run out of things to play before my eventual death. So then why are they still here? They are causing me a lot of headaches because I have to ensure that they are well taken care of both when they are stationary and when they need to be transported somewhere. This move involves a long, fantastical, epic, dangerous(?) journey that in itself will take a lot out of me - I am already feeling the effect of it - and it just feels like perhaps it's just not worth all the pain and hassle of taking these along with me.

Guess what's in all of these boxes?

What Is Life but a Constant Stream

Looks like I'm moving again, perhaps for one final time. It has been close to 3 years and I have been well-adjusted to living in Ketchikan, Alaska. Now, I get to play this game from the beginning all over again. I knew that this was a possibility when I started redecorating this Game Room just recently, so I can't be mad about this whole thing. I just know that it will be exhausting because this one will also be a long-distance migration. Am I moving across state lines, perhaps across the pond, or maybe to the other side of the continent? I'll leave that up to your imagination. I've decided to keep this private from now on.

From today's livestream: The Game Room deconstruction process has begun.

Diablo IV: The Ultimate Gift?

I participated in the Diablo IV open beta last month and it was fine. The game felt like Diablo III, only with amazing graphics - probably one of the best this year - and it was so well optimized that I didn't even have to use DLSS to run the game at 4K 60fps with all the settings maxed out. Unfortunately, once I got to the "MMO" part of the game, everything pretty much fell apart. The frequent lag was horrendous, where my druid was teleporting and stuttering all over the place. It's unfortunate that Blizzard is turning Diablo IV into a live service game, well Diablo III on the Personal Computer was pretty much that. The financial success of Diablo Immortal is the main driver of the game's current model here and you can't blame Blizzard for wanting to make money. I have always felt that it was a mistake to drive these developers away from the loot box mechanics - if you don't have self-control, that's on you and you should stop playing the games with loot boxes, there is a reason why we don't let blind people drive cars - because now they are hooked on selling season passes, and Diablo IV is the latest victim of that trend. Silly loot-box complainers thought they did something good when instead, they just doomed us all. Unfortunately, in this world of ours, there are just too many idiots and that's just the way everything works.

No amount of blood cape can justify that game price... Unless you're in love?

Sea Horizon ► Roguelites are easy to like and easier to enjoy. I prefer playing them over your typical linear titles. This game reminded me of For the King, especially the graphics style. I am always up for some fantastical, random quickie adventures. I know I have quite a few of these games already but just like those Vampire Survivors clones, I will never get tired of them, as long as they are somewhat decent.

Tales of Strange Internet Behaviors

As a small-time video game streamer, and as someone who knows and embrace his own unpopularity on the modern streaming platforms, I do feel a bit small sometimes when there's hardly anyone stopping by my channel. I'm only human, and I can't escape that self-inflicted negativity sometimes. Believe it or not, for as much persistent, perhaps incessant, livestreaming contents I provide on twitch.tv, and then later preserved on YouTube, there were many times when I just felt like I want to stop doing it, when I just wanted to forget about making myself accessible out there knowing that I am unable to bring in any new audience. Every single time that happens though, I would take a deep breath, shake off the feeling, and turn on my OBS to do it all over again. At this point, I know that all of the streaming I have done is only beneficial to me, and me only. Nobody cares, and that's okay. I just wish that I can keep that reaffirming thought in my head all the fucking times. Self-doubt is not only a exclusive feature of being as a small-time streamer, it also means that I get to experience weird interactions with the little number of viewers I have. And I am not talking about the typical stuff out there, like people who would only watch me when I play a specific game, or people who would spout racial epithets on top of other rude comments and then leave immediately. No, these are the more "special" occurrences. I don't think the things these guys did to me would fly in a chat room that goes up 300 lines per second, so these individuals like to target smaller channels. Let me invite you to 3 sordid tales of strange Internet behaviors that can only be experienced by the loneliest of lonely streamers. The names have been changed to protect the silly but the stories are real:

Resident Evil 4 Remake Is Out but No

Hollywood is doing a never-ending amount of remakes... And so do video game studios these days. Don't these people have any hint of creativity left in their hearts and in their souls? Pretty soon, Capcom will have to start remaking the remake of the first Resident Evil and then the cycle will begin once more. Don't get me wrong, I am curious about the latest RE remake but there is no way that I am buying that game at anything less than 50% off. So I was like, let's forget about pricey new games for a bit and check out the available Hatsune Miku figures they have out there. There is never a shortage of Miku figurines of course, and I ended up getting two new ones.

The Games of Steam Spring Sale 2023: Part 2

FAR: Changing Tides ► Sometimes, I do fall into the trap of cascading sequels, that is, I haven't even played the earlier games in the series before inducting the new entries into my Game Library. This is one such case. I would normally ignore sequels in my huge wishlist if I still needed to play the games that preceded them, unless they got a nice price cut. Sometimes, I feel like I am navigating through the complexities of life only by myself, so I am intrigued by the idea of travelling across a desolate environment alone as represented in this title. The good thing about having a series of games ready to go however, just like binging a show on a video streaming service, is having that option to play them in succession if I want to. Such convenience is one of the reasons why I love building up - or further enhancing - my Game Library.

Roguelike? No, I LOVE Rogue

I received the Rogue Hero Pack for Marvel Champions yesterday. I have pre-ordered this for a while, and it sure took its time to finally get to me. Out of all the heroes released for this game, Rogue is the one I am most excited about. Why is that? Well, Rogue is my favorite X-Men. If you think this is funny, then you must have not known the real Rogue and that your exposure to her is only limited to her horrible portrayal in the X-Men live action films. I hate those movies, they are pure trash. You see, Rogue is not the weakling girl who ended up giving up her mutant powers from the stupid films. No, she is one tough, sassy southern belle, and is one powerful mutant. I am no woman, and I am definitely not from the south but still, let me share with you the story behind my obsession with Rogue and why she is significant in my life.

Rogue redefines what it means... to go rogue.

The Games of Steam Spring Sale 2023: Part 1

Trying something new here: I want to start writing about the games that I inducted into my Game Library during a significant sales event, for example, the recent Steam Spring Sale that occurred from 03/16 to 03/23. This is a great exercise for me to reinforce my connection to these games and to appreciate them beyond typical gameplay time, since the latter is a fiercely competitive field for these games. The process of selecting these games during a sales event is a complex one. I don't just go down my wishlist and easily select a number of games to fit into a certain budget. Unless there are games that I really, really want - I would usually just get these games outside of a sales event - it would normally take me at least two days to stew the selections in my cart before they are ready for purchase. The process can be fun and a bit stressful as well. As you will see, there is a story to every one of my game inductions, whether tragic, mundane, or filled with magic. All of them hold a special place in my heart.

Don't let it go away... This feeling has got to stay?

Yoshi in My Deck!

I have been using an air purifier in my Game Room for close to 2 weeks now and I am pleased with the results. Thought it doesn't completely eliminate the existence of dust in here, bear in mind that I went for a cheap unit, it does seem to slow down the overall accumulation of dust in the room. I didn't get to vacuum the space before I have the unit running, so maybe that has something to do with it. I will probably notice this air purifier's overall effectiveness eventually in the long run. So, things are looking good in my longtime struggle against dust but now, Yoshi's nasty fur has emerged as a new threat as it sets its eyes on my Steam Deck after constantly stuffing itself inside the lens hole of my mouse.

Why, Yoshi... Why?!

Death Defined, Video Game Style

Death is a horrible thing, but it's a horrible thing that will happen to us all. You would think that with the Steam Spring Sale going on right now, I would be in a perkier mood. But no. I have been wanting to write about this specific article for a while. I have mentioned in the past that I have been at peace with death since a very young age. I knew it was coming even back then. It was the thing that defined my understanding of life, and it was through the lens of death that I was able to see through the ruse of religion. Still, there are some nights when I would wake up, depressed, by the whole prospect of it. Having tasted life, why would I want to return to the void, this time, probably forever after being in the void before and then I finding "myself" alive. It's unfathomable to think about, especially when thinking about those close to you, the fact that once we lose someone, we will never be reunited again. Being a major gamer, I thought of a way to perhaps look at life, and death in a more palatable presentation. Like a lot of bad things in this life of ours on Earth, we don't have to wallow in the bleakness of it all. It's okay to dress it up some, as long as one understands and embraces the actual truth behind the concocted facade.

Just like the Steam Spring Sale, we all come with an expiration date.

Steam Startup Movies: Boot-Up in Style

Valve just released new "Startup Movies" for both the Steam Deck and Big Picture Mode in the Points Shop today. I have been dying for them to present new ways to spend my Steam points and this got my very excited. What is a "Startup Movie"? It's the intro sequence when you boot up the Steam Deck or when you switch to the Big Picture Mode on the desktop. The consoles have one too, the two best examples being a cube falling to the middle of the screen, stamping a path that became the letter "G" on the Nintendo GameCube and the orange dot bouncing and spiraling on the Sega Dreamcast.

Valve seems to like the SegaSaturn apparently, since some of these seemingly gave a nod to its logo.

My Gaming Life as a Split Screen

I have been streaming my gaming activities since 2010. It's weird to think about it now because that's 12+ years of my life. My only regret from all of this is just that I have only started archiving all of my streams to YouTube. It would be a lie to say that I only did it for fun because I was actually reaching out to find other like-minded people to hang out with. As much as I like playing games, I also enjoy watching games being played by others. I never imagined myself being popular, but I was hopeful that at least I would be able to find a crowd of people who would appreciate my company while I am gaming. Apparently, whatever that defined me as an anti-social person offline also manifested itself in my personality as a streamer. At one point, it did bother me somewhat. I have had difficulties understanding the reasoning behind my inability to have a close gaming friend. It was the one thing I sought after until I found myself. These days, I hardly ever think about it anymore. A close gaming friend is like 50 million dollars. They are quite nice to have, but I can live without them.

Battle of the Sexiest Current-Gen Consoles

3 beauties, coated in black, dripping with desperation and forever left behind by Personal Computer technologies. These are our current generation consoles. They are usually referred to by their incorrect pronoun of "next-gen" when in truth, all new consoles are immediately "current-gen" the moment they are released, and as stated above, forever behind in terms of raw power because these consoles are usually announced way in advance to get potential buyers drooling. Let's face it, if a gaming device can't be upgraded and doesn't support old releases - measured in the console world as previous generation forever hopeful of being "backwards compatible" - it's just bad design. Nevertheless, I am getting too distracted because we are actually here to determine the winner of "The Sexiest Current-Gen Consoles" award. Here are the results!

The Game Room's Dust Collector

Ah, I remember around 25 years ago when my Game Room, and overall game collection, used to be small. Let me think, yes! I only had the SegaSaturn, the Dreamcast, the PSOne, and the Nintendo 64 hooked up to my entertainment center. Back then, I would lightly feather dust the whole entertainment center every day in the morning. The entertainment center used to always be spotless, compared to how things are these days. I now have a three-tier tempered glass entertainment center - I used to have one made of hardwood that could house a lot more of my gaming platforms - and it's so easy to see when the surface is dusty. I just did the much-needed dusting of it yesterday and it was such a big mess. My gaming stuff are not dust collectors so it's time to combat all of this with the help a machine in the form of an actual dust collector.

A sibling of the modern consoles since it is placement orientation-fluid.

Games to Revisit: A 10K Library Reflection

I have 10,000+ titles in my Game Library. That's a lot of games. Now, I have always been honest about them: I get distracted a lot thus, there are many titles that I have not played enough of to see all that they have to offer. I have always made sure that for the consoles, especially, every time I get a new game, it is routine for me to play them at least once. Things are a little harder with Personal Computer games these days because when I get them in bulk, sometimes I would miss installing and booting up a number of them. I want to be better about this of course because my games deserve better - and I do too.

The console era is pretty much over and gone but there is much to celebrate from its illustrious past.

The Hallway of Naked People

As someone who does gaming livestreams on a daily basis, the last thing I want is to accidentally capture something... untoward for my viewers. I have a number of accidental "features" shown during my livestreams, believe it or not, due to honest mistakes. It doesn't happen at the level and frequency shown by these Zoom noobs ever since the pandemic started several years ago, but sometimes there are just things outside of my control since I am not alone in this house. Unfortunately, I can't just lock the door to the Game Room - heck, I can't even close it completely shut, all because of my little Yoshi. It's not possible for me to have the traditional doggy door setup at the moment so if she needs to get out there to do her business, I have to make sure that she gets to do that because I can't depend on anyone else to open the backdoor for her.

Some have mistaken that hallway for a nudist beach.

The Eventual 10,000

Well, here we are. I am at 10,002 games. *Faints*

This is what got me to 10K.

How do I celebrate this? Is it even possible to celebrate this because having all of these games is already a celebration in itself? I am feeling excited and somewhat overwhelmed. I mean, 9,000 was a lot but 10,000 just feels, insane? I personally think it's a cool thing, but I have gotten some hate before for my huge Game Library size, so I am sure this is going to fuel the fire on that end. I feel quite accomplished as a gamer. I have successfully built up a gaming collection of my dreams and whatever comes next is just a deck for the Steam client, or in layman's terms, an icing on the cake.

Meditation Is Not a Game but I'll Play

I have meditated many times before as a part of multiple exercise regiments, but I have never considered making it a habit... Until now! What is meditation, exactly? No, it doesn't involve communing with the devil or being transported to a different dimension. Well, the latter is close enough I suppose. It's basically taking the time to just sit and breathe deeply for a while, pulling yourself away from the everything else around you. So how did I get myself sucked into this vortex? It's all thanks to a game called Playne: The Meditation Game on Steam.

Save the fox, save the world? Something like that.

Bing AI Chat Talking About... Me?

Okay, so it looks like the new Bing AI Chat is finally available to me and of course I didn't waste any time to ask it about... me, of course. Here are some of the responses. I was laughing and chocking on my phlegm as I was capturing these screenshots - I am sick at the moment. Enjoy!

Who knew that Steam Replay was a "challenge".

Steam Points or Deeper Discounts?

There's time in one's gaming life when one has to decide whether one should buy a game directly on Steam or an official third-party retailer. I normally would pick the latter as long as there is a decent price gap because, well, I have gotten so many games directly on Steam that at this point, I will never run out of Steam Points. Yes, the introduction of Steam Points in 2020 is the only reason why this is a dilemma to begin with. I have unlocked all of my Steam profile features using Steam Points and Valve is really, really slow in giving us more things to do with this clever but underdeveloped currency system.

Currently competing for a purchase: Is that extra $6+ savings worth it?

Name That Game: A Saturation Point

I'm getting old. This, I understand. It's inevitable, I suppose. Lately, I have been having a hard time remembering names of games that I was attempting to reference during my livestreams. Heck, sometimes, I even have a hard time remembering the names of the characters in Heroes of the Storm mid-match! Is this all caused by our new dependency on machines to tell us what we need to know at any given time? Or is my brain just reaching that point that I cannot expect to remember things anymore. It's probably a combination of both seemingly. I say this because I can recall vividly, for example, details about the games that I have in mind but for some reason, I would have a hard time pinpointing the actual title. Last week, while streaming Hogwarts Legacy, I was trying to recall the name of that game involving android rebellion. I could see the important scenes in my mind. Specifically, when the androids gathered together and marched on the city streets demanding their independence. I was also able to remember the dramatic prologue involving a negotiator android who was trying to save a little girl being held captive by a deviant servant android. Yes, the memories from me playing the game were clear as day but for the life of me, I just couldn't extract the name of the game.

Of course the game I was thinking about was Detroit: Become Human.

Game Room Ver. 4.1 Is Complete

It finally happened! For a while there, I thought that I'd end up having to pack everything away again before I could finish this project. I am so happy right now, but I am also a bit exhausted because I used up everything I had in me to complete this during the final stretch. The Game Room feels so peaceful and organized, though it is not even close to being perfect. That would involve moving some things to the storage room and I am unable to do that right now even if I wanted to. Still, I feel accomplished and now, I can game in peace.

It's Virtual Reality ready as well!

Game Room Overkill?

Is there even such a thing? Game Room Ver. 4.1 is almost complete - I better just finish it in case I have to close it all down - and what better way to add to the finishing touches than to place a 34" LG ultra-widescreen, curved monitor on my gaming table, right? As if the room is not already crowded enough?!

It's hooked up to my streaming Personal Computer and functions primarily to monitor OBS.

Trimming the Fat: Genshin Slimpact

My Game Library is huge, and it will continue to get bigger as we go. So, is there a good reason to keep a free-to-play game like Genshin Impact in my roster of games to play? Let me just start off by saying that GI is a pretty good game. It's pretty, it's silly, and it's a time sink. It's also the only ftp game that I would consider to be an essential install. Well, Heroes of the Storm is the other one, but that game is so good that I don't even see it as a ftp title because it's worth its gigabyte in gold. You don't see me running to boot up GI when I'm struggling to choose a game to play now, do you?

This is for the best. I'll just watch a stream on twitch.tv if I want to see the game in action.

Speeding Towards 10K

It is kind of scary, but it is also kind of exciting. I am inching closer and closer to hitting the 10,000 titles mark for my Game Library. That is 10,000 games at my fingertips. Seems like too much power for a gamer to wield. But is it really power? Or a curse? I know that to some segment of the gamer population, this seems to be a bad thing. As I have encountered too many times, the knowledge about my library size usually sends some people to some sort of frenzy where they immediately go on the defensive, as if I was trying to compare my dick size to theirs. But of course, I have been welcomed with a more positive, friendly reaction. Look, I am not actively trying to get my library bursting at the seams. It just kind of happen. I am a full-fledged gamer. I like playing games and I like getting them. Both of those things make me happy in this life and I am going to participate in them unapologetically. The nastier reactions take me back to the olden days when video gaming was at its infancy. Gamers were perceived as weirdos back then by the normies, and the last thing I wanted is to have gamers themselves make me feel that way again.

The physical display of games remains mostly the same thanks to the digital age of gaming.

Living in the Moment as a Gamer

My recent Game Room revival project has lifted me up emotionally so 2023 is off to a good start. At the start of this process, I could barely move around the room because I had to unstack the many large boxes and placed them individually on the floor to access their contents. I am getting closer and closer to regaining my virtual reality space after clearing the area as I continue to empty these boxes. In terms of actually playing my video games, that has been quite satisfying and productive too.

It's good to be able to stop and smell the hedgehogs again.

I Want a Good Start to 2023

I have been working hard to complete my maybe temporary Game Room, but it has been a struggle. The real problem here for me is that I wanted to cram everything into this space yet, I can already see that it's not possible to do that. My physical Personal Computer boxes will not be able to make it. I cannot prioritize their placement in the Game Room since they would occupy too much space being the biggest, bulkiest form of physical game packaging to ever exist. This means that they will stay boxed and stored somewhere else in the house, which is certainly not preferable to me.

I want the ultimate Game Room, even for a brief moment in my life.

Hot Twitch Career 2023: Channel Manager?

It only makes sense. Who doesn't want to make easy money? We can tell each other all about our dream careers or professional aspirations but at the end of the day, doing less work but getting more money will always triumph everything. This is perhaps the allure of pursuing the path of an "influencer" on social media, like Twitch. I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to just sit and play video games while racking in thousands of dollars each month even if just pretend to enjoy the process or gaming in itself. Alas! Being a financially successful Twitch streamer is not easy. So perhaps, we need to aim a tad lower and find a more, uh, creative approach to funneling that sweet Twitch money our way by becoming... the manager of Twitch streamers?

He follows your channel at the start of your stream, and he does it all! Why wouldn't you hire him?
