RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

Gun (2005)
Developer: Neversoft Entertainment, Inc.
Platform: PlayStation 2
Purchase Date: 12/18/2005

I thought we were here to pick up our pay, not to pick up a darn hooker.

Gun is the clearly one of the best Western-themed video games ever made because of its successful blend of old-school genre archetypes combined with a truly modern gameplay design. I am not a big fan of the Old-West but the revenge storyline in the game is entertaining enough with all the major thematic elements safely following the genre conventions. It's the highly polished action that will keep the player hooked to Gun. It's basically a third person shooter with the occasional first person viewpoint but with a very fast and responsive aiming control as well as the ability to easily take cover behind objects. The game contains many memorable set pieces as well as plenty of blood. It may not be realistic but it's a celebration of fun gameplay and forgiving controls that will turn even the most sceptical gamer into an unexpected fan.
