RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

Deathrow: Underground Team Combat (2002)
Developer: Southend Interactive
Platform: X-Box
Purchase Date: 02/03/2003

That's what happens when you don't beat up your opponents fast enough.

Despite the suggestive cover art and title, Deathrow is not a crime drama about a strong but lonely inmate and his struggle to achieve total revelations through working with others in deathrow (the marketing team didn't do their homework again). It is actually about a futuristic version of basketball called Blitz that features 4-on-4 team matches. The object of the game is to use a glowing disc in play to hit the opponent's goal to score a point. What makes this game unique though is that it encourages violence between the two teams so you can kick and punch your way towards the opponents in the hope of severely injuring them in the process. A player can be totally incapacitated so you always have to watch your health meter. The game has a heavy emphasis on teamwork - as well as cuss words - and there is a lengthy Conquest Mode that is highly engaging and features a ton of unlockables.
