RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (2005)
Developer: Midway Home Entertainment Inc.
Platform: PlayStation 2
Purchase Date: 12/18/2005

4 enemies? That's nothing compared to what's coming your way.

If you have played any of the past Gauntlet games, you will know what to expect from Seven Sorrows. It's an action packed 4-player, online enabled hack-and-slash with a hint of role playing character progression featuring a medieval fantasy setting as well as waves after waves of enemies to defeat. For the most part, you and your fellow adventurers must destroy enemy spawn points to progress to the next area and this will eventually lead to a battle with the end level boss. It's very mindless but it can be fun to play with friends. The ridiculous number of enemies on screen really makes the game a bit too daunting - but not impossible - as a solo experience. Since this is more of an arcade game rather than an epic role playing extravaganza, it can be completed in one sitting. You can keep levelling up your character using your saved data after you cleared the game, which is nice, and even though you can't really customize the look of the 4 classes you get to choose from, the game constantly updates their armors and weapons which really saves Seven Sorrows from unnecessary monotony. The game is currently available on X-Box Live Marketplace on the X-Box 360 but if you can find it cheaper at the retail bargain bin, the server is still up for the PlayStation 2/X-Box.
