RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

Otogi: Myth of Demons (2003)
Developer: From Software
Platform: X-Box
Purchase Date: 08/2003

The enemy database is presented using stylized Japanese paintings.

Otogi: Myth of Demons is one of those games that I really want to like but ended up being average at best. You play as Raikoh, an undead warrior tasked to save the earth from a demon invasion. This action game has a distinctly Japanese tone to it, from the mystical settings to its character and enemy designs. The game allows you to link up combos that count go all the way up to the heavens. The environments are mostly destructible so there are always things that you can destroy, intentionally or not. The graphics are quite marvelous, most notably its stunning particle effects. The game can easily get repetitive and the lack of punctuating, consistent boss fights is where Otogi really misses the mark.
