RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:
Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness (1997)
Developer: Capcom Co., Ltd.
Platform: SegaSaturn
Purchase Date: 07/16/1997
A screen-filling super move is the best kind super move there is.
Cyberbots is a 2D fighting game featuring 15 awesome looking mechs and 9 different pilots to choose from. Some of these pilots can have access to multiple selections of mechs while others can only pilot their own unique robots. The game only uses four buttons in all: two for direct attacks, one for boosting, and another for using the mech's equipped weapon. Even though the control is simple, a variety of strategic attacks can be accomplished by combining movements with the button inputs. There is also a super meter that can be unleashed when full. The game supports the usage of the optional memory cartridge: It reduces the loading time between matches slightly while it increases the amount of sprite animations. The game looks good and some of the backgrounds feature a large amount of moving scenery. Some parts of the play field are destructible and it feels nice to be able to cause these small destruction but nothing beats the feeling of winning a match when your opponent literary explodes into pieces right in front of you after you landed the killing blow at the end of a second winning round. Incredible! Street Fighter fanatics will be thrilled to know that there is a playable mech-Akuma in this game.
