Games Played 04/30/2009

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes Demo - PlayStation 3*
Resident Evil 5 - X-Box 360
SingStar - PlayStation 3

*I like how they smoothed out the low-res character sprites but this demo is one of the worst I have played in ages because it only allows you to play the game in local multi-player mode. This really gives me the impression that the game is going to be primarily online focused and will not feature any single player leaderboard/high score ranking just like the travesty that befallen last year's Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, a wasted opportunity of a game developed by the same people responsible for this MvC2 release: Backbone Entertainment. Maybe it's time for them to change their company's name to Bonehead Entertainment.

I love my MvC2 but this is shaping up to be another incomplete port of a Capcom game.
Thankfully, I still own the awesome Dreamcast version of the game.

RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

World Championship Poker 2 (2005)
Developer: Point of View, Inc.
Platform: PlayStation 2
Purchase Date: 12/11/2005

Am I ready for the big time or what? The AI kicked my butt soon after unfortunately!

Poker is not really a hard game to play. It's just that it can get very costly in real life. I don't gamble except when I am forced to sit in front of a slot machine while I am out in a casino with my significant other. I just don't believe in the odds of winning in a game of luck and chance, especially when my money is at stake. You know what I rather spend it on. Playing poker in a video game may not be financially rewarding but it provides me with the understanding of why many people take this game very seriously. It's addictive and it's deviously simple. Basically, it's about matching the cards in your hand with the dealer's cards and the best combination wins the money in the pot that is built up by you and the other players. It's totally random and all it takes is some serious self control - knowing when to press on and knowing when to stop. Before playing this game, I really didn't have a clue whatsoever on how poker is played and even after spending some time with it, there are still many intricacies that seem lost in the translation because the game uses a lot of technical terminologies that make absolutely no sense to beginners.
