*As soon as I tried the demo of this action role playing game, I was completely hooked. The graphics were beautiful and I like the streamlined user interface on the screen.
RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:
Black & Bruised (2002)
Developer: Digital Fiction Inc.
Platform: Nintendo GameCube
Purchase Date: 2004
In case you are wondering, Tiny - the guy on the left - is shirtless.
Black & Bruised is a fantasy boxing game featuring wild and crazy characters in some truly strange fighting locations. The character designs are humorous and memorable. There are several predictable characters in there like the blonde New Yorker, the tough New Jersey chick, and the military jock but you can't complain much about the Egyptian Brit, the modern Geisha, and the Mexican superhero. The game's art style is really vibrant with smooth graphics and animations that still manage to impress me today. The facial alteration during the fight is funny and rewarding - you'll get to see the true meaning of the game's title when you beat the crap out of your opponent (or when it's the other way around). The fighting is simple and fast even though it is able to include the typical left/right, high/low attacks one would normally expect from the genre. Since this is more of an arcade boxer, there are many different power-ups that you have to literally fight for during the matches. After you obtain them, you can also level them up before using them and this brings a small degree of strategy to the game.
