RANDOM GAME OF THE DAY:

World Racing (2003)
Developer: Synetic
Platform: X-Box
Purchase Date: 09/07/2003

Yes, it's a UFO flying over the race track. How can I not love this game?

World Racing is one of my favorite racing games. It is fun to play and is just an absolute joy to experience visually. Its hardcore difficulty may not be able to please everyone, even with the ability to tweak the gameplay mechanics between "arcade" and "simulation", but anyone should be able to appreciate the high level of sophistication and effort done on the game's graphics. Though not realistic in terms of its looks, this game can rival any great looking games found today without breaking a sweat. The imaginative, fantastical environments are huge with little to no sign of pop-ups. You can see forever into the horizon and there are always something moving in the sky as well as something beautiful to stare at along the tracks. It's very reminiscent of Electronic Arts' Beetle Adventure Racing on the Nintendo 64 because of its heavy focus on massive environments to provoke racing excitement, only with less refined controls. The only regret I have when it comes to World Racing is that I never picked up the sequel in 2006. If this game is any indication, World Racing 2 should be a worthwhile hunt.
