Chris Redfield... Before his tragic addiction to steroids.

Generally, I don't believe in remakes and this rule applies cinematically and in the video gaming world. Thank goodness it doesn't really happen that much for video games - we are mostly plagued by an unending number of "re-releases" - but when the result is as stunning as this one, I can't help but wonder how many other older games out there could really benefit from a little technological boost. The original Resident Evil was good but this remake completely replaced its prominence and existence in history. It's the same game with additional contents and some of the best pre-rendered background graphics ever. The much improved realistic look made the game ten times scarier. The one thing that really needed a remake from the original game is the voice acting: though it's improved here, it is still average at best and the dialogues are as corny as ever.
