June 2008 Monthly Gaming Analysis

It has been 27 days since I started saving my Daily Game Log to this site. Even with just a month's worth of data, it is interesting to see the pattern of my gaming habit. Though I am trying my best to stick with a game and play it until it's completely finished, I still find that particular enjoyment methodology to be flawed but jumping from game to game in my current frenetic existence can get overwhelming and empty. I have to get better with finding a good balance in my gaming life that is both free in its spirit yet structured in its execution.

The results shown below are of course based on the combined data from the Daily Game Log which should provide a clear indication of a game's usage frequency. Bear in mind that even if a game is played twice or more during a particular day, it would still register as 1 in the Day Count column below. In a sense, "merits" are given based on how often a particular game can make me play it again throughout the entire period of the month on a daily basis. A game that makes a gamer play it over and over again or at least spend a lot of time with it... Isn't that what we mostly want from a great game? I don't think it's really fair to count all the way down to the number of hours played since some games only require a short amount of time to properly serve their purposes.

OVERALL BREAKDOWN:

Total Number of Games Played: 34

Yourself!Fitness was the most productive game last month... And I am starting to see the changes too (yay!). Nothing can beat old-school 2D gameplay and since Ikaruga's release on the X-Box 360, I have been so obsessed with playing it to perfection: the ranking system helps because I want to climb it up all the way to the top! I can certainly expect Everquest II to continue being my most played game for a while. But uhm... Gotta go back to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and I can't forget about Grand Theft Auto IV either... The latter wasn't even played once in June.

Best New Game of the Month:
Space Invaders Extreme (Nintendo DS)

Unexpectedly Forgotten New Game of the Month:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PlayStation 3)

I Missed You I Want You Game of the Month:
Wii Fit (Nintendo Wii)
