Thank the Galaxy that Sega didn't turn this one into a free-roaming racer.
Out of all the revivals done on Sega's classics, this is probably the best one out there. The game plays just like the original - crazy drifting action, tight control, and simple driving mechanics - only that it looks and sounds much, much better! It's all about getting to the next checkpoint before your time runs out as the game takes you from one fantastic environment to another, each with its own distinct and memorable graphical theme. The arcade version allows for branching routes to the finish line, which is available here plus you can drive through all of the courses in one go. Coast 2 Coast is actually an updated version of the already great OutRun 2 that I own for the X-Box. It is amazing that even though the car handling is hardly realistic, it is still an official Ferrari product! I am also going to take this opportunity to declare that "Shiny World" is one of my top 5 video game music of all time!
