LoL Sexy Hour

Why is it that I am so attracted to these oddball characters? So, I have accumulated around 3200 Influence Points playing League of Legends on the Personal Computer and even though I thought of saving up for Blitzcrank - a yellow robot with an extended arm that could grab distant enemies - who can be purchased for 6300 IP or maybe even the soon-to-be-released sinister new champion named Swain, I decided to peruse the in-game store and check out the list of unlockable champions. I then decided to unlock Gragas rather randomly for 3150 IP. Gragas is an obese bearded recluse whose main ability consists of him drinking some grog and being in a drunken stupor. I didn't expect much when I jumped into a practice match but then I found that he was indeed a lot of fun to play. I have used him for the last 7 matches and I am afraid that he is really growing on me. Sorry Nidalee... It looks like you have been replaced.

Lara Croft: Still Single

After playing through the first 4 stages of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on the Personal Computer earlier today, and I thought that it was time for me to play the co-op mode online. When I selected the multiplayer option, the game kept asking me to connect a second controller to my PC. I thought maybe the game was bugged but I then found out that the multiplayer mode is delayed even for this PC version - the game was released sometime last month on the X-Box 360 without the multiplayer mode and that it would supposedly be enabled once the game is released both on the PC as well as the PlayStation 3 - which of course already happened earlier this week. If I knew that the online option was still in the works, I would probably have picked up the delicious Recettear: An Item Shop Tale on Steam instead.

At least this should encourage me to complete the single player campaign.

New Games Alert: Of Planeswalkers and Tomb Raiders

I got two more games on my Steam account for the Personal Computer, Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalker and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The first is currently on sale and I took this opportunity to also download the game's two expansions. Though this game is fundamentally flawed because of the lack of deck customization, it really does have enough charms to entice a trading card game fan like myself. As for Lara Croft's latest adventure, I am highly impressed by the game's departure from the tried and true full 3D exploration in favor of a more arcade-like experience. Guardian of Light is an isometric shooter with a good dose of platforming and puzzles. The graphics looks amazing, including the real-time cut-scenes, and for the price of $14.99, this game redefines the level of visual quality that could be accomplished by a budget title. I am looking forward to playing the online mode for both games.

Do people really buy the deck unlocks when they could do so by just playing the game?

The Thrill of a Quadra Kill

Tonight, I got my first Quadra Kill in League of Legends on the Personal Computer. When you kill enemy champions in rapid succession, the in-game announcer would shout out the number of kills in question and that could reach all the way up to a Penta Kill. The most incredible part to this was the fact that I got this while playing as my lovely Nidalee and she would be the last champion that I would ever hope to accomplish such a thing. It happened during a big team battle where everyone - my team and the enemy team - were all pretty much next to each other except for Ashe and Ezreal who were on the opposing team. After throwing one nasty Javelin that took an opponent's full health to half of that, I switched into cougar form and I jumped right into the heat of the battle. After a couple of pounces and swipes that hit multiple enemies, the kill count began to pile up. Then I started pouncing away towards Ashe and Ezreal who were positioned a bit further away and voila, a Quadra kill. Of course everyone on the team helped with the damage and I was just doing my thing: I was really surprised that I got the killing blows. It was definitely very satisfying to hear the Quadra Kill announcement and I hope that I will get to hear it again in the future.

Yes, I have been playing Nidalee exclusively ever since I unlocked her last week.

This Galaxy Is Oh So Rogue!

I have started playing Rogue Galaxy for the PlayStation 2 again after perusing my Game Library for lengthy adventure title that I could commit to. I have never completed the game before because I found myself stuck on the game's third planet as I kept dying over and over and over again from the real time battle encounters. RG is a fun action role playing game where you control a band of space pirates who are travelling across the galaxy but I thought that it was heavily flawed when I played it back in 2007. You can have up to three people in your party at a time and the computer-controlled members of your group are questionable when it comes to their survivability. I have been casting myself playing the game over Justin.tv and I have now passed that point where I was totally destroyed before. Once I realized that I really needed to be more pro-active with the character's abilities - something that I despised doing before because of the scripted cut-scenes that followed their activations - everything makes a lot more sense now and the battles are definitely a lot easier. It does feel great to return to the game: sometimes, it takes a second try before I get very involved in a game.  Focusing on just one game never really works for me unless the game gets me completely hooked and I believe that RG has finally done that to me. I have a good feeling that I will be playing this for a while.

I used to hate both Kisala and Simon. They are more useful than I originally thought.
