YouTube Streaming Keeps Me Focused

I have been broadcasting live on YouTube for a little over a month now. Let's just get one thing out of the way: setting up a livestream on YouTube sucks. It sure feels like they are years behind the type of convenience and technology available on Twitch, the livestreaming site of many gamers' choice that recently justified its way into the lucrative softporn industry to make that as mainstream as gaming. On YouTube, you have to update the livestream page before every stream instead of just hitting the live button on your chosen streaming software. But you know what? This stringent, archaic, and definitely nonsensical setup is actually helping me stay focused on the selection of games that I play by curbing my somewhat wild, mood-driven approach to gaming. So maybe, their design, which feels heavy-handed, is intentional after all?

I am currently on a mission to go through all the contents of Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition.

I got so many games during the recent Steam Summer Sale, with many of them still remain untouched to this day. There used to be a time when I would at least run them once but there is certainly no time for that these days. The good news here is that I have to be a lot more thoughtful about the way I livestream with YouTube framing this activity. The fact that every play session is now being saved in perpetuity and that I want each video to only contain one title, I found myself going back to the same games on a more consistent basis than I have done so in the past. This is because of the obsessive compulsive in me who wants a good collection of play sessions archived for each game. The hope here is that the better I am at managing the games that I do play, the better I will become at actually getting through all the games that I do have. Time is short and human life is so very finite. And yes, there's no such thing as heaven where I can continue playing all the games I have accumulated in this reality - all fictionalized heavens actually sound pretty darn boring: I am not interested in having sex all day and all night or socializing with people whom I am not interested to be around. I love my games and I owe it to my Game Library to keep myself focused and determined to experience it all!

Update Note: August 2021 - Things were going quite well with me streaming via YouTube until I noticed that the video quality was actually not up to par compared to my past Twitch broadcasts, despite YouTube providing streamers the ability to use higher bitrate than its competitor. So for now, I am back streaming at Twitch but I because I am still archiving all of my gameplay on YouTube, the new focused approach to gaming is thankfully still intact. Let's hope that things will improved over at YouTube because this is adding an extra step to the whole process.
